Major League Soccer announces 19 players invited to Caribbean Combine

Major League Soccer on Thursday announced the 19 players who have been invited to participate in the 2015 Caribbean Combine from Jan. 2-5 in Bayamón, Puerto Rico.

Players will compete in front of league scouts for the opportunity to earn an invitation to the 2015 adidas MLS Player Combine in Fort Lauderdale, beginning on Jan. 8.

All MLS Combine invitees will be eligible for selection in the 2015 SuperDraft presented by adidas held on Thursday, Jan. 15 in Philadelphia.

Houston Dynamo shuffle coaching staff as Owen Coyle brings in his long-time assistant, Sandy Stewart

More change is coming for the Houston Dynamo, and this time it will be on the touchline.

Gone are assistant coach Steve Ralston and goalkeeper coach Tim Hanley, who tendered their resignations on Monday. In their place Houston on Wednesday announced the hiring of Alexander “Sandy” Stewart to take over as primary assistant for new head coach Owen Coyle, while Paul Caffrey enters to fill in a new position as director of sports performance/strength and conditioning coach.

They will join current assistant coach Wade Barrett on Coyle’s new-look staff.

That's the number of college seniors invited by Major League Soccer to the annual adidas MLS Player Combine after the nine additions announced by the league on Wednesday.



The adidas MLS Player Combine, which is attended by each of the 20 MLS coaching staffs, takes takes place in Fort Lauderdale, Florida from January 8-13 and features three doubleheader matchdays.
